
An Eastport native, Senator Kevin Raye graduated from
Shead Memorial H. S. in 1979 and earned a degree in political science
from Bates College. For more than 17 years, he served U.S. Senator
Olympia Snowe the last 61⁄2 years as her chief of staff.
He was the Republican nominee in Maine’s 2nd District Congressional
in 2002. He currently is in his second term in the Maine State Senate
proudly representing Washington and part of Hancock and Penobscot Counties. Senator
Raye serves on the Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee,
the Government Oversight Committee, and the Citizen Trade Policy Commission.
He is married to the former Karen Howard, of Bangor, they live in Perry
and are the 4th-generation proprietors of Raye’s Mustard Mill
in Eastport. Senator Raye is a former member of the Perry Planning
Board, and currently serves on the Boards of Maine Rural Partners, Sunrise
County Economic Council, Peavey Memorial Library, the Boyden Lake Association,
and chairs the North Perry United Methodist Church council. He
is a member of the NRA, the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine, and
the Maine Snowmobile Association.
